What are the purple bricks at every St. Francis DeSales varsity hockey event?
Five core principals serve as the foundation of the Stallions Hockey program; Brotherhood, personal Responsibility, Integrity, Character and Knowledge. Each purple brick is an individual representation of that foundation. Hockey is the conduit through which these character attributes are instilled by the coaches.
Upon being selected to represent St. Francis DeSales High School on the varsity ice hockey team, each player receives their purple brick at a private ceremony shared only by their teammates. The words inscribed on each brick are what the individual player believes they bring to the team. The Stallions varsity hockey team is a brotherhood and wins by being a team made of players willing to put forth an extra individual effort to benefit the team.
Players not only keep their bricks for their entire career with the team but keep them after graduation as a reminder of what their extra individual effort gave to the betterment of a team.
