Coach Maxwell Named Head Coach

St. Francis DeSales High School (DHS) athletic director, Mike Asbeck announced Tom Maxwell as the new head coach of the Stallions varsity hockey team. Coach Maxwell was promoted from assistant coach to fill the vacancy created by Coach Greg Andreason's departure earlier this spring.

Coach Andreason is a member of the U.S. Army and received transfer orders to relocate to another state.

Coach Maxwell joined the Stallions coaching staff prior to their inaugural varsity season as an assistant. He has eight years of coaching ice hockey at a competitive level in different environments and organizations including the collegiate level. He maintains a successful record of maintaining players' scholastics, graduating players to the next level of play, developing players' personal self esteem and athletic talent.

Coach Maxwell is a USA Hockey and Hockey Canada certified coach, a previous ACHA Competition Committee member, an active member of the Ohio High School Ice Hockey Coaches Association, National Federation of State High School Coaches Association, American Hockey Coaches Association, Hockey Canada National Coach Mentorship Program and the Ontario Hockey Federation.

Originally from Toronto, Ontario he played competitive hockey for Ridley College and the Henry Carr Crusaders.

"I have big shoes to fill. I only hope I can match coach Andreason's dedication to the players and to the program." Coach Maxwell continues on the program's future; "I am looking forward to developing a plan that will quickly have Stallions hockey competing at the level of excellence associated with all of St. Francis DeSales athletic programs."

Coach Jon Edwards will continue to stay with the program as an assistant and dedicated goalie coach. The program will conduct a search to fill the assistant coach vacancy created by Coach Maxwell's promotion.
