Coach Andreason Departs To Better Serve
Varsity head coach Greg Andreason announced his departure from the Stallions ice hockey program today. Coach Andreason is a member of the U.S. Army and received transfer orders to relocate in order to better serve the country.
The program's general manager; Lisa Janszen says of Coach Andreason's resignation; "Coach Greg has been a part of this program before we had any players signed up. He has been involved in helping this team evolve from the very early stages. We will all miss him as a coach and as a friend."
Coach Andreason was the first and only head coach of the Stallions ice hockey program. He started with the program in 2004 as the head coach of the Junior Varsity (JV) Stallions. He coached the team to a third place finish in the Capital Hockey Conference (CHS) and returned the following year to steer the JV team to win the regular CHC season.
In March of 2006, the St. Francis DeSales High School (DHS) administration gave the go head to make hockey a varsity sport. "The previous success of the team coupled with the community's interest in the sport made it an easy decision to include ice hockey as a varsity sport at St. Francis DeSales;" says DHS Athletic Director Mike Asbeck.
Asbeck, who along with Janszen tapped Coach Andreason to lead the varsity team says of him; "Greg is an outstanding coach and did a great job of laying the ground work for the St. Francis DeSales hockey program. He will be missed and we wish him luck." Asbeck will make an announcement on a new head coach on May 9th.
The coaches, players, staff and parents of the Stallions ice hockey program all salute Coach Andreason for his dedication to the team and to his duty helping protect the country.
