The Adam Allgeyer Memorial Tournament

In 2000, Dublin Coffman student and hockey player Adam Allgeyer (#44) died in a car accident. A year later, the tournament was started in his honor by then Coffman Rocks ice hockey coach Steve Kranz. Today, proceeds from the tournament are used to fund scholarships to help children and programs with the cost of playing hockey.

This is the second weekend in a row that The St. Francis DeSales varsity ice hockey team (2-7-0-1, 0-2-0-1) will play in a tournament created in memory of a high school hockey player killed in a car accident. While tragic, these tournaments serve as reminders and warnings to current students of how dangerous driving can be.

44
The Stallions will be playing in the "44" division, so named in honor of the number Adam Allgeyer wore during his time with the Coffman team. The Stallions opponents will be three teams from around Ohio; the Centerville Elks, the Dublin Scioto Irish and the Hilliard-Southwest Wildcats.

Game 1
The Stallions face off against the Club Elks from Centerville, 7pm on Friday, December 14th in the Chillers' Dublin facility.

The Elks are 5-5-1 on the season and 2-3-1 in their league play. With five seniors, including goaltender Matthew Michno, the Elks should prove to be a solid opponent.

This is the first meeting between these two teams.

Game 2 @ Chiller North
The second game will change venues to the Chillers North facility where the Stallions will take on Capital Hockey Conference (CHC) foe Dublin Scioto in non-conference play. Game time is 8pm on Saturday, December 15th.

The Irish are a well coached and always prepared. Lone senior, and Captain, Sean Beever leads a hungry young team. Scioto has only played one conference game, a loss to Worthington Kilbourne, and are 0-10-1 overall on the season including a 9-1 non-conference loss against the Stallions.

The Stallions are 1-2-1 lifetime against the Irish and 1-16-1-1 versus CHC opponents including non-conference play.

Game 3
Final round-robin play concludes at the Chiller's Dublin facility and will take place Sunday, December 16th with an early start, 7:50am.

The Stallions will have a tough test, as the Hilliard-Southwest Wildcats look to repeat as tournament champions of the "44" division. Sitting with a Greater Columbus High School Club Hockey League (GCHSCHL) record of 1-7-3 and an overall record of 6-13-5, the Wildcats look to use this tournament to jump-start the rest of their season. To that end the Wildcats have a 20-man roster including 12 seniors.

The only time these two have met previous was during last years Allgeyer tournament when the Wildcats won 3 - 0. The Stallions are and 0-2-0 against GCHSCHL opponents.

The Conclusion
If the Stallions come through unscathed they will get at second shot at one of their round robin opponents in the Championship Game. This game will be played at the Chiller's Dublin facility at 12:40pm on Sunday, December 16th.
